DR JM SINGH JOINS AS HEAD OF ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT AT PAU

LUDHIANA, APRIL 19: Dr Jitender Mohan Singh has joined as Head, Department of Economics and Sociology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). He is also working as Director, Agro-Economic Research Centre, Department of Economics and Sociology, PAU, since January 2020. His research area is farm management and agricultural marketing.


He started his career as District Extension Specialist (Farm Management) and later worked as Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Fathegarh Sahib. His major research work emphasized on investigating the economic aspects of different oilseed crops, supply chain of horticultural commodities, labour migration, resource use planning for sustainable agriculture and subsidiary occupations of farming. As Director of AERC, he has written 22 research reports and submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India and other funding agencies on various topical issues related to agriculture. Besides, he has acted as Principal Investigator (PI) in one and co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in four projects funded by reputed funding agencies.


He has also published about 80 research papers in various journals of repute and 35 extension articles in various magazines/newspapers. He has made presentations in about 40 ‘Research and Extension Specialist Workshops’ organised by the PAU. In addition, he has delivered numerous Radio/TV talks for the benefit of farming community. Presently, he is guiding one Ph.D. and two M.Sc. students, while 15 postgraduate (M.Sc./Ph.D.) students have completed their degree under his supervision. Dr Singh has also presented papers in various conferences held in the country; and is associated with many professional societies and held various offices in these societies.
