Earthquake in Turkey: Lines of coffins in the cemetery, tears shed in the mass funeral

Turkey : The bodies of 10 dead are lined up in green metal coffins at the main cemetery of Gaziantep on Wednesday after Turkey's devastating earthquake. An Imam was called for prayer before his hasty burial.Yeşilkent cemetery was filled with mourning relatives of the dead.


They came from all over the region. On the other hand, rescue workers searched for survivors in the rubble. The tremors of the subsequent earthquake shook Gaziantep.


The epicenter of the earthquake was near Gaziantep. The intensity of the earthquake was 7.8. There were aftershocks even after the earthquake.
More than 11,200 people died in this natural tragedy.The mayor of Gaziantep, Fatma Sahin, has appealed to Muslim preachers to come forward in more numbers and help with the funeral rites in cemeteries.


Hundreds of people formed lines in front of coffins in Yesilkent. The imam spoke into a headset microphone and he paused to pray in front of each of the deceased.
The women present there were immersed in heavy mourning. Some of them became uncontrollable with grief. When a woman fainted, she was taken from there.


About 100 kilometers (60 mi) north of Gaziantep, women from Besni console Hatice, who lost her 17-year-old daughter Rouveda in the earthquake. His 21-year-old son Serhat is still missing under the rubble.


His family lived on the sixth floor of an apartment block. Hatice said she held her eight-year-old daughter when the earthquake struck. But the building collapsed due to the tremors of the earthquake. His survival is a miracle. The mother told AFP that Rueda initially said she was "feeling fine".
