THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PUNJAB GOVERNMENT IS TO PROVIDE BASIC FACILITIES, CLEAN AND POLLUTION-FREE ENVIRONMENT TO THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE

Chandigarh, May 23: The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is continuously making efforts to provide basic facilities and a clean, pollution-free environment to the people of the state. In this direction, several initiatives are being taken across the state.


The Minister of Local Government, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, said that the Punjab government has decided to spend approximately Rs 1.50 crore for the bio-remediation of legacy waste at the municipal solid waste dump sites in Dhuri and Bhawanigarh, Sangrur, as well as for the supply of sweeping machine.


Providing further information, Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, the Minister of Local Government, stated that Rs 30 lakh will be spent for the supply of a sweeping machine (diesel-operated) for the Municipal Council of Dhuri. Additionally, Rs 72.50 lakh and Rs 49.98 lakh will also be spent for the bio-remediation of legacy waste at the municipal dump sites in Dhuri and Bhawanigarh, respectively.


Dr. Nijjar further explained that these activities to be carried out at the Municipal Councils of Dhuri and Bhawanigarh will not only benefit the large population of the areas but also protect them from serious diseases caused by dirt and pollution.
